Potsdam's old downtown – by feet and boat

Starting point for this tour is Nauen Gate. It is situated next to the Dutch Quarter Ð you see it from far distance and you reach it easily from Potsdam main station by public bus or tram. Our tourist guide leads you through the Dutch Quarter giving you a comment on it. You see Bassin Square, St. Peter and Paul Church and Brandenburger Strasse, Potsdam's main shopping street. You catch sight of Brandenburg Gate on the other end of the street, before you arrive at the New Market Square crossing the City Canal. With the city weighbridge and the former Royal Coach Stables this square presents a beautiful ensemble of baroque and neoclassic times. On the Old Market Square you get the history of the city castle and see the imposing Nicholas Church.

Crossing Long Bridge there you continue to the boats' landing place. Enjoy gardens, castles and the town's silhouette from the waters!
